In May 14-16, 2014 the IREG Сonference on "Employment and academic ranking - reflection and influence” in London was held. This year the conference was hosted and co-organized by well-known in academic circles world - rating agency QS (QS Intelligence Unit). Joining more than 200 members of IREG and other interested groups, the event created the most favorable conditions for discussing sensitive issues related to academic ranking and relevance in the performance of employability ratings of graduates. In addition, the world's largest companies, such as Siemens AG, Airbus Group, Shell International presented their vision of recruitment and requirements for graduates.
At the Conference actively participated the representatives of Kazakhstani accreditation agencies and leading higher education institutions in Kazakhstan (Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, Eurasian National University named after L.N Gumilyev). Realizing the growing importance and influence of world’s ranking systems in Kazakhstan and taking into account prospects of the development of own ranking technology of universities and educational programs IAAR could not stand aside and took a part in such an important event. The IAAR was represented by K. Sh. Shunkeyev - leading expert on ranking and Kanapyanov T. E. - Manager of International Projects.
This year the main discussion was devoted to relations between employers and leading universities; how employers use academic ratings, and the level of satisfaction of current labor market with the quality of educational background of university graduates.
