Since May 30 to June 1, 2017 an external expert panel (EEP) of the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) worked in Pavlodar branch and at the clinical facility of Ust-Kamenogorsk State Medical University of Semey. The work of the panel is carried out within the framework of specialized accreditation of 2 educational programs. It included both national experts and an expert from the near abroad, Emil Suleiman Oglu Guseynov, ophthalmologist, PhD doctor, Z. Aliyeva National Ophthalmology Center in Baku (Azerbaijan), employers and representatives of studentship. The chair of the EEP is Beisebyaeva Ulzhan, deputy director of the department of academic activity, Ph.D. in medicine, associate professor of Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov (Almaty).

The purpose of the EEP visit is to evaluate the quality of the residency educational programs in accordance with the standards and criteria for the IAAR specialized accreditation and to develop recommendations for consideration of the accreditation issue of the announced educational programs at the Accreditation Council.

Quality assessment was identified through interviewing, questioning of residents and teachers. In addition to working with target groups, interviews with alumni and employers were held. Members of the EEP visited study rooms at clinical facilities, a library, and also evaluated the material and technical base of the Pavlodar branch of the SMU of Semey city.

The decision on accreditation of educational programs being accredited will be taken at the next meeting of the IAAR Accreditation Council.
